Out of the office - but not out of reach

An overview of the functionality available on the E-mail Gateway is given below.

  1. Voice/fax Message only.
Voicemail/fax messages are stored on the SVMi–E card as before with users being notified that they have a message in the usual manner e.g. message waiting light, different dial tone. Messages have to be retrieved using a telephone.
  2. Voice/fax Message plus E-mail Notification.
Voicemail/fax messages are stored on the SVMi-E as 1 above and have to be retrieved using a telephone but an e-mail message is also sent to the user to alert them of a new voicemail/fax.
  3. Voice/fax Message plus E-mail with Attachments.
A voicemail message is converted into a WAV file and a fax message is converted into a TIFF file. An e-mail containing the WAV or TIFF file is sent as an attachment with the notification e-mail. Messages will be retained in both e-mail and voicemail format until the user deletes the files. This means voicemails/fax can be retrieved either via the users PC, using, for example, Outlook or by using a telephone.
  4. Voice/fax Message with Auto Delete plus E-mail with Attachments.
As 3 above but once the e-mail message has been sent, the original voicemail/fax message is deleted from the voicemail system, releasing the memory and avoiding the system hard disk from becoming full. The voicemail box can be set to delete messages immediately after it has been forwarded or after a pre-determined time set by the user.
In addition to the above the E-mail Gateway offers the following functionality,

• Customers can use either E-Message delivery and/or E-Message notification.
• Customers can have multiple e-mail addresses.
• E-Message notification can be sent to one address while E-Message delivery is sent to another.
• With both E-Message delivery and notification, if caller identity (CLI or CID) is enabled and received, then the callers’ telephone number will appear in the subject field along with the date and time stamp of the voice message originally recorded in the SVMi-E voicemail box.
• Once a fax has been received the recipient has the option to forward this to a fax machine for printing.
• Message recipients will use the multi-media kit supplied with their PC (speakers and/or headsets) to listen to messages delivered to their inbox.
